Paganism & My Own Healing Journey
I am quite connected to the Norse gods - especially Thor. He is a god of strength, and has often come to me when I've needed some emotional strength to get through difficult times.
But Norse Paganism has often forced me to learn incredibly harsh truths and lessons, especially when connecting with Odin. It is often a painful process, and the hardships you go through can feel incredibly lonely. But something that Paganism tought me is this: you aren't actually ever alone. Thousands of ancestors stand beside you, guiding you on your soul's journey through life. The old gods too, if you resonate with them.
I've been tought that if I want something, it won’t immediately be handed to me: I first had to align with it in order to prepare me for it - and a lot of the time, it was experiencing painful and messy situations before clearing the way for something better to arrive. Sometimes you'll lose something to gain something much better later on.
👩💻 Workplace mistreatment - to push me out of the workplace and into self-employment.
🌿 Chronic illness - so I'd learn how to heal myself using herbalism.
💔 Loss - so I'd learn that rejection is redirection, and nothing is permanent.
💫 Spiritual catalyst connections - to trigger my awakening to who I truly was.
❤️🔥 Negative relationships - to prepare me for my divine counterpart, so I'd recognise him when he finally turns up.
It requires true strength to be spiritual. To have the courage to sit with your shadows and work through them. To see that things are happening for you, not to you. To still have an open heart and lead with empathy despite what you've been through. But I couldn’t live my life without spirituality. I just wouldn’t see the world - and myself - in the same way.
