Trauma-Informed E-Mail Counselling
For those seeking accessible, reflective, and flexible therapeutic support who cannot or do not want to attend traditional face-to-face or video call therapy.
How it works: You write about 500–750 words once a week, and the counsellor spends the equivalent of a 50-minute session reviewing your thoughts and drafting a therapeutic response. The therapist will typically reply within 24 to 72 hours. You then have the opportunity to read, re-read, and sit with their feedback before writing your next email.
Private therapists typically charge between £40-£60 per therapeutic email response. Because crafting a high-quality therapeutic response takes roughly 50 to 60 minutes of clinical time, this rate directly reflects standard UK hourly rates for private counselling.
This does not include distance energy readings using divination. Please see the rune castings and tarot readings sections for this service.
Why Choose E-Mail Counselling
While email counselling offers powerful advantages for trauma reflection and personal transformation, it is less suited for acute crisis management or severe, uncontained dissociation.
How It Benefits Those With Complex Trauma (C-PTSD)
Deep Reflection: Writing your thoughts in an E-Mail allows you to slow down, clarify your thoughts, and process emotions before sending them.
Permanent Record: Clients can re-read the therapist's responses multiple times, reinforcing therapeutic insights between sessions.
No Time Constraints: Asynchronous communication allows clients to write whenever they feel ready, without the pressure of a live 50-minute clock.
Anonymity and Safety: Text-based therapy lowers the barrier to entry for individuals dealing with intense shame, social anxiety, or severe stigma.
Overcoming Barriers: It bridges the gap for people with physical disabilities or mobility challenges, busy schedules, or poor internet connection.
Things To Note About E-Mail Therapy
Email counselling benefits people with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) by providing a low-arousal, highly controllable environment that bypasses the intense nervous system triggers often caused by face-to-face or video contact.
Trauma survivors frequently struggle with hypervigilance, shame, and severe avoidance, so E-Mail therapy is a much gentler, more manageable approach.
It's Discreet: Email counselling is highly discreet because it does not require verbal privacy and physical travel. It can blend completely into your daily screen time and everyday life.
Eliminates Interpersonal Triggers: Meeting in person or on video requires constantly reading facial expressions, maintaining eye contact, interpreting body language, and trying to listen to and process what is being said. For those with C-PTSD, this can trigger a constant 'fight, flight, freeze, or fawn' response. Emailing completely eliminates these real-time social pressures, reducing hypervigilance and nervous system dysregulation.
Sidesteps the 'Freeze' Response: During live or in-person sessions, traumatic memories can trigger a physical freeze response or selective mutism, rendering the client unable to speak. Writing allows individuals to bypass this entirely, making it easier to communicate painful or shameful experiences.
Bypasses Severe Avoidance: Avoidance is a core diagnostic feature of PTSD. The requirement to leave the house, travel, and sit in an unfamiliar space can cause a client to drop out of therapy entirely. Email therapy allows them to engage safely from their own comfortable environment.
Acts as an Emotional Regulation Tool: In E-Mail therapy, clients can write a draft, step away to ground themselves if they become overwhelmed, and return to edit it later. This type of pacing prevents the emotional flooding that often happens in live trauma processing.
Serves as a 'Living' Anchor Against Flashbacks: C-PTSD and PTSD cause emotional flashbacks and memory fragmentation. Having a permanent, written record of the therapist’s grounding, validating words allows the client to re-read the email during moments of crisis to remind themselves that they are safe in the present.
Reduces Intense Toxic Shame: Many trauma survivors experience deep shame regarding their trauma or its symptoms (such as self-harm or dissociation). Disclosing these thoughts via text provides a buffer against the feared immediate judgement or rejection from the therapist.
What We Work On
Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT): Trauma-Informed CBT is a specialised, evidence-based form of talking therapy designed to adults evaluate and change unhelpful thought patterns caused by traumatic events. While standard CBT focuses broadly on managing present-day anxiety and depression, TF-CBT actively integrates the processing of trauma memories to safely reduce long-term post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD) symptoms.
Jungian Therapy (Shadow Work)
Shadow work is the process of exploring your unconscious mind, specifically your 'shadow self', which contains repressed fears, traumas, and hidden personality traits. Rooted in Jungian psychology (Carl Jung), it involves uncovering why you feel triggered, jealous, or act in self-sabotaging ways, ultimately allowing you to integrate these parts of yourself for personal growth.
Techniques May Include:
Nervous system regulation methods
Cognitive Re-structuring
Addressing Past Wounds
Boundary Setting and Assertiveness
Where appropriate, spiritual healing practices may be suggested. The focus is on holistic healing your nervous system.
What Type of Therapy I Offer
Workplace Bullying: Having endured many instances of workplace bullying, micromanagement, and exclusion, I've seen first-hand what this does to someone's confidence, health, career, and finances. I've lived the experience, recognise the patterns, and have overcome adversity in the workplace to regain my confidence - now it's my turn to help you.
Narcissistic & Emotional Abuse: In personal relationships, I have experienced narcissistic abuse and emotional manipulation. It leaves you feeling confused, diminished, and your nervous system is completely dysregulated. I can help you recognise the patterns, step into your power and reclaim your sense of self so you can foster deeper, more aligned relationships that are healthy for you.

My Personal Experience

As a Trauma-Informed therapist/life coach, I can offer my guidance from lived experience and evidence-based therapeutic advice to give you the best opportunity to heal, grow, and transform yourself like I did.

The Transformation
What I found worked best to overcome my challenges and heal my nervous system was a mix of therapeutic techniques, holistic healing, and spiritual healing practices such as meditation and nature connection.
I began connecting with nature as a way to heal more than 10 years ago when my symptoms first began to surface. Since then, I've learnt how to manage stress much easier and have even re-taken up a sport I loved before I was affected by trauma.
A few years ago, my nervous system was completely shot to bits after narcissistic abuse and emotional manipulation in several workplace experiences and a long-term relationship, all of which spanned across a decade. It impacted my health and I developed chronic illness, inflammation, and symptoms of C-PTSD. This later led to employment issues and challenges with others.
My symptoms became so severe I was often in bed for the entire day and unable to walk up the stairs without being rendered completely exhausted. My daily life and future goals were interrupted, and I needed a way out.
